Story
Hello friends!
I had big plans to take part in Walk the Wight this year, walking 26 miles across the Isle of Wight to raise money for Mountbatten (the island's only hospice), while introducing my friend Audrey to my native land!
Sadly, the event had to be cancelled, and I'll have to show Audrey around another time...
But this important charity is still in need of funds, perhaps now more than ever; therefore all participants are being asked to “Walk the Wight your way” and continue to collect sponsorship.
So here’s what I’ve come up with... Between now and May 11th, I’ll be walking 26 miles on my step machine inside my house. I’m counting a mile as about 2000 steps. But wait, there’s more!
I’ll also be cycling the distance around the Isle of Wight. I’ll be using my daily exercise break to clock up 70 miles over the course of the month.
This might not sound a bit lame to some of you, but to give you an idea of where I am now... I got out of breath changing my bed covers last night, and I’ve been known to catch the bus 3 stops to work.
Yes, I’m lazy! But this is a cause close to my heart so it’s time to get off the sofa. Please sponsor me whatever you can afford to help reach my fundraising target.
We will all be affected by death, dying and bereavement.
Mountbatten is there for people when they need it the most.
Without our support, they wouldn't be able to provide these vital services for free to the growing number of people across the Isle of Wight who need them.
Please donate as much as you can. Thank you.
