Story
PROJECT MYEMYELA
As a part of my second year studying architecture at The University of Nottingham, I have chosen to help design and build a small nursery in the rural village of Lephepane, Limpopo, South Africa for 40 children. It is one of the poorest, least developed parts of the country, with high levels of unemployment. All the money I raise will go to funding the project and the materials we need to build this school during the Easter break.
As a team of 38 students, our target for the project is to raise £38,000. Your donation will help provide a bright, clean and safe environment for teaching basic skills, play and music to village children. It will also provide employment for the local women who teach in the nursery school, cook meals and sing and play with the kids.
We pride ourselves on spending as much of our fundraising locally in the communities around the villages we build in - we have no big salaries or expensive offices to fund. The money raised will be spent on materials, tools, subcontracted works and project logistics associated with daily transport to the site. Students pay for their own flights and accommodation.
