Story
Thank you for visiting our Big Walk 2017 Just Giving page.
More information about The Big Walk 2017 can be found at www.shef.ac.uk/big-walk. A number of you generously supported Pirashanthie towards her 2015 big walk to raise money for lung disease. Once more, we are relying on your generosity.
This year's challenge is a 50-mile circular walk starting and ending at the University and going out into the Peak District. We’ll (Michael and Pirashanthie) have up to 24 hours to complete as much of the route as we can (30 June - 1 July) – and we are determined to cover a marathon distance of 26.2 miles
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE BIG
WALK 2017 AND THE SHEFFIELD SCANNER CAMPAIGN!
