Story
When I was six and seven my parents died consecutively of cancer, my mother of skin cancer and father of bowel cancer. This impacted me, my family and those around us beyond words could describe. Throughout my life I have undertaken many different fundraisers, raising as much money as possible for different charities, mainly partaking in multiple ‘Race for life’s alongside friends and family (despite a serious lack of fitness from some of us, including me)! This time it is closer than ever to my heart, doing a sponsored Jazzercise for skin cancer with my godmother and godsister (Jill and Susie) in memory of my mum, hoping that by raising money we can help prevent other families receiving the same pain and grief as my own.
1 in 54 people are diagnosed with melanoma during their lifetime - yet 86% of all skin cancer cases are preventable and ignorance regarding how to spot the early signs remains widespread. Skcin are completely dedicated to providing FREE national educational programmes and resources that raise awareness of the importance of sun safety to prevent skin cancer and how to detect the early signs and symptoms, to improve prognosis and save lives.
Please help raise funds for this very worthy cause - together we can make a difference and save lives.
