Vietnam to Cambodia Global Challenge · 5 March 2016
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As all my friends and family know, I was involved in a very serious car accident at the tender age of 18. The medical profession saved my legs at the time and have spent 32 years rebuilding me and keeping me mobile. Now at the ripe young age of 50, it seems there is little more they can do to save my left leg. However, the amazing Noel Fitzpatrick, TV's supervet has pushed pioneering bionics surgery forward in animals and has set up The Humanimal Trust to advance conversation about uniting and moving human and animal healthcare forward through shared ideas, technology and integrated research giving hope to people like me, fighting to avoid amputation, and others.
12 months ago I bought an electric bike to try and exercise as walking had become too painful with severe osteo-arthritic pain. With a fixed drop foot ankle, I figured I probably wouldn't be able to ride. But with a lot of encouragement and support (and a good set of cleats and cycle shoes), I started riding out. After building up to 50k rides my next challenge was to transition to a normal road bike. I did this 3 months ago and now am cycling up to 70k per ride. I have a lot of physical milestones to ready myself for this epic journey, but I am determined to succeed and enjoy whilst I have the physical ability to do so!! wish me luck ..

On 5th March I plan to cycle from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to the magnificent temples of Angor Wat in Cambodia. The distance is a massive challenge covering hundreds of miles with the added challenge of the intense heat and high humidity.
I will try and keep everyone informed of the highs and lows of my winter training regime and of course during the trip itself.
I am extremely grateful for any support and donations for a charity that is close to my heart and would like to take this opportunity in advance to say thank you for all donations.
