Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of Piers, our wonderful son and brother, who died peacefully in Luxembourg after a long battle with cancer on the 11th July 2011. There will be a ceremony and cremation at the Krematorium Luxembourg on Thursday 14th July - My parents and I kindly request no flowers, however if you wish to make a charitable donation to Diabetes UK in lieu of flowers, that would be most generous and very gratefully received.
Piers was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 7 and has long supported the great work that the charity does for diabetics and their families. He was particularly interested in research into the disease. Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - enabling us to raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity itself.
Piers lived in Luxembourg for 15 years, he worked as an engineer all around Europe and made friends through his work and his passions for cricket, hockey and a pint of Guinness down the local Irish pub when he could get there. Piers was a keen supporter of Liverpool F.C., an avid cricket fan and would cheer on his beloved home rugby union side of Otley Town with his friends at home whenever he could! Piers was a truly special, wonderfully kind, warm hearted and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
