Story
Long, but worth it I promise❤️❤️❤️
It’s now been 2 and a half years since I recognised the need to seek support for the way I was feeling, and it’s been a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey. After receiving the tools and support I needed, I felt much more in control of my own thoughts and was able to manage the way I felt much better. I know my anxiety and depression will never fully disappear, it is a part of me which fuels my pride for how resilient I am, and I no longer resent it because of that.
With this said, I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to access this crucial support, and be surrounded by groups of people I can’t thank enough for always believing in me and picking me up when I needed it most. I want to help make the change in mental health opinions and topics of conversations, and help provide such crucial support to others that need it. I feel like I owe it to all those experiencing the same feelings I did at university, as well as the incredible young people I have worked with who have to deal with so much at such an important age.
Thus, I have chosen to run the Great Manchester 10K in support of 42nd Street. 42nd Street are an incredible Manchester based charity that provide support to young people aged 11-25 with their emotional wellbeing and mental health. They offer a range of therapeutic support and encourage and support young adults to have a voice, and access opportunities to learn, develop new skills, be creative, have fun and demonstrate to themselves and others that they are able to recover, manage their mental health and wellbeing and achieve their full potential.
I hope you choose to support myself and 42nd Street in this journey. Be that through donations, volunteering or just helping to change the conversation around ill mental health.
Thanks for reading, bet you feel like you’ve ran a 10K yourself x
