My Charity: English Federation of Disability Sport
Like me these guys have the view that life is a glass that is half full and that opportunities and experiences should be embraced. With a desire that disabled people are active for life they work tirelessly to remove physical, logistical and psychological barriers to participation in sport.
My Reason: Helping others to help themselves
My job has given me the opportunity to meet many people that have been born with disabilities and people who have acquired disabilities during their life. From injured soldiers coming back from war and complex genetic conditions through to life changing traumas and mental health challenges I have been inspired by all these individuals.
A common desire with these people is that they want to join in with life and not just to watch from the side-lines. By helping the English Federation of Disability Sport I feel that I am helping to empower these people to achieve their goals.
My Motivation: Creating Memories
Life is a journey that we all travel and fate ensures that every journey is unique. Along these journeys there are lots of meetings and partings with people that create memories that we hold dear and last us a lifetime.
Over the last few years my family have experienced 4 specific parting from people who have been part of many happy memories for us. It is from these 4 people, who I dedicate a marathon to each that I get my drive to put my trainers on and spend many, many hours running round the streets of Nottingham.
By taking on this challenge I will be creating more new memories for me, my family and many people with disabilities who I will never meet as they go on their own journeys.
My Plea: Tin Rattling
Hopefully you think that what I am doing and why I am doing it is worth sponsoring and you will help me help others become and maintain an active journey through life.
