Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We also have a page setup for UK Alzheimer’s Research.
Our Dad is currently serving his 21 day quarantine in his hotel room in Hong Kong and to keep him from going over the edge, we thought he should start the New Year in benevolent fashion with all this time on his hands. We chose Alzheimer’s as it has impacted so many families, including ours, and the research is moving ever closer to a cure thanks to everyone’s support.
He will be running and cycling a total of 100km in his hotel room on Saturday the 16th of January 2021. He will cycle 80km on his stationary bike and will run 20km in his room. The room's dimensions allow for a straight of 10 metres, so he will run 2000 lengths in order to complete the 20 km.
It might sound a bit crazy, but Dad is a bit odd as he hasn't quite mastered the art of sitting still! We thought that running and cycling 100 kms in his 40-odd square metre hotel room might actually be less torturous than reading a book or completing a puzzle - bizarre, we know! For those of you who are familiar with his most recent fitness related injuries, we figured that being confined to a hotel room will limit the chances of falling off his (stationary) bike or tripping up under the weight of his backpack - just some of the added benefits we could think of. Joking aside, we think this is not going to be an easy challenge so please do get involved; it's all for a great cause and with your support Dad will also not feel quite as isolated in his hotel room for the day of the biathlon!
