Story

Hi mates and family

The great  -- great north run is not far away now. In fact 2 weeks !!!!!.. 13 miles!!!! As usual I am a bit behind organising things. but finally this is my charity fund raising page.

I am collecting for TWO charities. Alzhiemers Research on this Page or  Break Through Breast Cancer on another page  --CLICK THIS LINK to go to BTBC page
http://www.justgiving.com/Philippa-Brown1

Please donate generously to whichever is close to your heart or both because they are both very worthy causes.

Just a bit about why both

Karen Hinshaw was the lovely wife of a good friend of Andy's from Uni/Rugby in Newcastle Kim Hinshaw. She very sadly died of breast cancer earlier this year. (This is her page with lots of great stuff about her http://www.justgiving.com/Kim-Hinshaw ).

SO There is a Newcastle crowd that are all running in her memory raising money for Break Through Breast Cancer and Helen and I are linking up with them. But it is not only Karen that spurred me to run but that I know several other women (many in the same crowd of mates) who have had and come though breast cancer and that would only have happened due to the research done in this field . More money = more survivors in the future.

On the Altzhiemers front. As you will know my Mum had Altzhiemers as did her mum and her brother, her sister (My lovely Aunty Sheila) is in the late stages of it now and my dad is showing signs so I know from first hand how this horrid disease steals peoples lives. But there is still absolutely nothing available by way of a cure or even help  Nothing.. Absolutely nothing.. And the money spent on research is so tiny compared to other research. I have a vested interest in this one. When grandma died we told mum not to worry they'd have a cure by the time she got it. Well I am now saying that to my kids who are worrying about me and in fact their own prospects, but things don't seem to have progressed. I am hoping that this bit of money might just be the bit that pays for a break through!!!

Love you all. and thank you very much
