Story
In February 2022 our daughter was diagnosed out of the blue with T1D & as you can imagine this has had a huge impact on her daily life. We are extremely proud of the way she continues to take this all in her stride & tackles every hurdle it presents head on.
Type1 diabetes can occur at any age, but is most commonly diagnosed from infancy to the late 30s. With this type of diabetes, a person’s pancreas produces no insulin. It occurs when the body’s own defence system (the immune system)
attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. What causes the immune system to do this is not yet completely understood, but JDRF are funding world-class research to find out.
JDRF have been an excellent resource for all our family & I want to show my appreciation by taking on 3 tough trail runs in the next 12 months.
After Completing the Classic Quarter back in May & then "The Plague" 100Km Coastal run in August. I now focus on arguably the toughest 100 mile foot race in the UK... The AoA
The Arc of Attrition is a point-to-point extreme coastal race from
Coverack to Porthtowan taking in 100miles of stunning and dramatic Cornish Coastpath with competitors running in challenging winter conditions. Runners will complete an Arc around the entire south west foot of Cornwall. The race has a strict 36 hour cut-off with additional checkpoint and safety cut-offs on route.
