Story
On Sunday 10th August we will be taking on the exciting yet daunting challenge of the Prudential RideLondon – Surrey 100 mile bike race. Phil has been a Trustee of the National Osteoporosis Society for the past 5 years - a charity doing great work supporting millions of sufferers of this terrible disease, including our Auntie Mary and Auntie Pam.
As complete cycling novices we naively thought that with a few months hard work (and in Phil's case the loss of several stone) it couldn't be that hard. How wrong were we.......
Osteoporosis is a fragile bone disease that causes painful, debilitating and sometimes fatal fractures, particularly of the wrist, hip and spine. Even the most minor bump or fall can lead to bones breaking. It’s estimated that 3 million people in the UK are affected by the condition, with many of those suffering multiple fractures and severe pain before they are diagnosed.
The ride will take us past many of London's well-known landmarks before joining the route made famous by the road race and time-trial events during the London 2012 Olympic Games. We will then pass through some stunning Surrey countryside before climbing the challenging Box and Leigh Hills and making our way back into London.
Thank you for all your support.
