WE MADE IT!!! 1000 miles in the saddle. 75 hours total time on the road .
Started with strong winds at John O'Groats, blowing down tents, didn't see Nessie at Loch Ness through Glen Coe, up Kirkstone Pass in the Lake District, conquered the Long Mynd in Shropshire, the biggest hill I have ever seen (1:20) then down (and up and down and up!!) England through Cheddar Gorge and to Lands End where a huge family welcome and party awaited us! What a trip, fought off a stomach bug which had been going through the camp, woken up every morning at 5.30am by an inspiring song at base camp and on the bikes by 7am. Was inspired by all those around us, and a huge thank you to everyone who made the effort to come and support us en route! The three of us supported each other through the good and bad moments and it made all the difference.
The biggest THANK YOU is to all of you who have donated money which made every ache and pain worthwhile. I can still sit down but lying in a bed was the biggest treat of all! I have made over £3000 for the Alzeihmers Society so once again, thank you for your support. The decision to do this was taken at a BBQ with friends after a couple of pints last July and it has been a long journey since then. Can't work out why my wife has turned down offers to all BBQs this summer!!! Here is to the next adventure!.....watch this space....
