Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know I have decided to use the Manchester 100 bike ride on the 4th Sept to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Is there a better cause than Macmillan? Of course there are lots of
great causes but cancer is predicted to effect 1 in 3 people during
their lives and it is hard to imagine hearing a scarier word from your
doctor. Macmillan aim to reach every single person who is diagnosed with cancer and to be there for them at every stage of their cancer journey, no matter who they are, what part of the country they live in or what type of cancer they have. As the diagnosis gets better and the treatments become more effective more people live with cancer. Macmillan make a huge difference to the lives of those living with cancer and their families and carers. From nursing care to financial support they are focused on helping people live with this horrible condition.
I am very lucky. My mother was referred, diagnosed, treated and given the all clear with breast cancer all in the space of less than a year. The Macmillan nurses were brilliant and had the time to explain
everything and take away some of the fear of the unknown. (plus my
mother is a tough old bird and I suspect the cancer took fright and left
of its own accord) Not everyone is this lucky and the ongoing support
for sufferers and families is truly remarkable.
Thank you
Phil
