Story
Everybody knows somebody who has either died of or survived the fight against cancer!
In 2021, the world said goodbye to my dear friend, Dave Manovich.
Dave was 69 years old and had battled with prostate cancer for almost 4 years. He was an amazing human being, one of the best and it was a privilege to have been associated with him in any capacity, let alone as a good friend. I know I speak for many when I say how much he is missed and loved.
Statistics show that 1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime. That means you or me, one of our parents, a brother or sister, a child or a dear friend will either fall victim to cancer or have to fight to survive it. In other words, every single one of us will experience the pain and suffering caused by cancer in some form or fashion and until a reliable cure is found, there really is no escaping it.
When we think about terminal cancer, we instinctively think of MacMillan Cancer Support as the bedrock of palliative care in the UK. Without MacMillan, individuals, families and friends would have to suffer alone as they come to terms with losing their loved ones. MacMillan people are special people who live and breathe a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude to supporting those suffering with Cancer – and they NEED OUR SUPPORT.
This country cannot do without MacMillan and that is why I have chosen to complete this ride to raise money in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. All donations large or small are most gratefully received. Thank You.
Dedicated to cancer victims, fighters and survivors: Dave Manovich, June Hucker, Claire Hucker, Vin Brushett, Robert Holland, Josh Maskew, Helen Riley, Pam O’Meara and the one and only Mr Brian Waltham.
