On November the 3rd and 4th teams of staff and volunteers at Pez Maya will be partaking in educational presentations, games and challenges with the aim of raising awareness and money for Project AWARE.

Project AWARE have helped increase the protection of many shark and ray species through their campaigning and data collection. We hope to be able raise as much money as possible for them to be able to continue with the good work that they do.

With sharks rapidly disappearing from our reefs it is essential to raise as much awareness as possible. Not only to our volunteers here on base but also to a wider audience. 

One group of volunteers will be crowned the winners after a Lionfish derby, cooking competition, treasure hunt, sandcastle competition and relay races.

Extra points will be given to the team who fund raise the most so please if you are donating for a team include the name of the person you are hoping to win. We are also running a social media competition with each team posting pictures on our GVI Yucatan Facebook Page. So, keep your eye on facebook and get liking the pictures of the team you would like to see win!!

Throughout the two days our science team will be giving extra presentations and volunteers will be watching documentaries to educate them further on the importance of sharks and rays to our reefs.
