Final Log I can't quite believe that all that remains is to catch the train home! 1180 miles, 10 days and some fantastic support. I need to say a huge thank you to my lovely wife Jane and boys Tom, Jack and Ollie without whose support and understanding this would not have been possible - I've missed you and look forward to seeing you tomorrow. My special thanks go to Paul Hubbard, Mark Beech, Daniel O'Brien and Greg Mullarkey all of whom showed me great friendship and were bonkers enough to join me en route- thanks guys.thanks to Eddie my Cornwall saviour and thanks also to my work colleagues for allowing me the space to do this -in particular to Fusion who somewhat stumbled into this adventure and have been very understanding. Guys I can't pretend to be returning with all the answers but certainly with a clearer head. Finally, but by no means least, heartfelt thanks to all of you who have sponsored me and raised money for Great Ormond Street. Thanks again. Peter

July 3rd Well seem to have made to the last day ( barring disasters with my steak and ale pie or the Scottish Midge ). Arrived in Lairg after a fairly straight forward day of flattish roads, reasonable Tarmac and good weather. Smooth tarmac - what an invention!Decision tomorrow coast road at 86 miles or stick to the route at 100 miles - will let you know if I whimp out

July 2nd Perth to Grantown via the Cairngorms - always likely to be a tough day - which should in my view be renamed from Scottish Highlands to Up, Up and more Up with occasional Down Lands. Great ride down Glenshee though. Flatter tomorrow I think and probably a lazy Sunday start.

July 1st Border House Langholm breakfast the best yet - Porridge with honey, Full Scottish ( English with Haggis) and toast. Absolutely great until the first climb of the day! Great cycling country all the way to Edinburgh where Lance lookalike left for home ( or possibly next weeks Tour de France). Over the Forth ( eventually) and on to Perth for a 124 mile total today. Day closed with a surprise phone call from Eddie ( remember the kind help on Cornwall half a lifetime ago) to check on my progress. Eddie is now official Cornwall correspondent to LEJOG.

Thursday 30th Those green green fields of England ( and pot holes and daft council signs) were left behind late this afternoon as we crossed the border - just Scotland left! Joined today by Greg Lance Armstrong Mullarkey to inject some winning enthusiasm and see me over early morning climbs - sadly he forgot the tow rope but saw me through nonetheless - cheers Greg . Edinburgh and Perth tomorrow .

Wednesday 29th Started with a surprise visit from my friend Mark Beech who had borrowed a bike and driven through the night to cycle the morning leg to Rivington. Cheers Mark and I hope the cycle back for your car was drier than our morning. Daniel O'Brien picked up the reigns at Rivington and we battled over the N. York moors to Ingleton. thanks for the support guys much appreciated. So 5 down an ( hopefully) 5 to go!

Tuesday 28th Left the Droitwich B&B on time at 8 this morning which was a surprise given the no holds barred high quality breakfast - and it was. PH joined for today's push and did a passable impression of Eddy Mercx While seemingly quite enjoying himself - may be that bit was just the Vaseline! We reached Northwich in one piece -443 miles down . Ingleton tomorrow with DOB joining for what could be a challenging day . keep you posted!

Monday 27th A rite good ole push today ( as they say). Quite Pleased with today which involved Cheddar Gorge , crossing Bristol and the ' rolling hills of the Forest of Dean' before arriving at Salwarpe near Doitwich a total of 116 miles . Joined tonight by Paul and Sharron Hubbard who just couldn't resist taking an aging cyclist dressed in Lycra out for Dinner ( a dark hideaway corner required), Northwich tomorrow.

Sunday 26th Day 2 completed without a hitch -sure it can't last - but in comparison to yesterday a bit of a relief. Sampled the delights of Tiverton (well tea and toast) and Glastonbury ( town not festival although quite a few festival goers in town at 4pm - too early for the festival I guess). Having worked out that I am better off without the sat nav I can only hope tomorrow goes as well. Just have to cope with the mad guest house owner and returnees from Glastonbury first!

Saturday 25th What a day to get me started - low cloud, fog ( possibly the same thing) double puncture and rear tyre failure requiring a detour to the local bike shop costing a couple of hours compounded by navigational errors making it a long first day! On the plus side what a day to restore the faith - bikers in Caharrack helped me with a taxi and Eddie ,who just happened to be painting the church opposite , offered to come and pick me up from Bike Chain, the local specialist cycle shop , when my tyres were fixed ( cheers boys for doing it so quickly and you are definitely on my recommendation list for emergency help in Cornwall)and to the owner of the Caharrack stores who fetched Eddie when he couldn't hear his mobile phone to organise my lift back. Cheers and good health to each of you and Eddie if you see this and you are in trouble in Derbyshire be sure to call me. Roll on day 2!

Thanks for taking the time to visit the CarbonLow LEJOG JustGiving page.
Peter Walden , as MD of CarbonLow Group, is cycling - with support from friends, family and colleagues - from Land's End to John O'Groats in the CarbonLow fund raising event for 2011.
The cycle ride and supporting functions will be certified as a 'low carbon' fund raising event. The aim is to raise £3000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital in support of their quite incredible work which gives hope to so many children.
I will set off on 25th June with the aim of completing the 1050 miles route 10 days later. Anything you can give in would be really appreciated by Peter and Great Ormond Street.
19th June - 5 days to go
Just five days to go and feeling a bit of apprehension but the training is done and I am just hoping for good weather now.
