Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year (in August) I will be one of six people in a relay team swimming the Channel for ASPIRE www.aspire.org.uk . We each will do 1hr stints in the water from Dover to France. We expect it to take from 12hrs (very fast) to 18hrs (not so fast). we will be in strict rotation each person entering the water in turn. I will be swimmer number 6.
Channel swims have strict regulations to adhere to, i.e. swimming trunks only, no wet suits. we will have a boat and pilot leading the way across helping each of us avoid Ferries, Jellysfish and, oh yes. POO!!.
fewer people have swam the Channel than climbed Everest, We hope to be one of only a few teams to complete this amazing challenge. SORRY, WE FULLY EXPECT TO BE ONE OF ONLY A FEW TEAMS TO COMPLETE THIS AMAZING CHALLENGE.
I need to raise at least £1500.00 to make sure I do my part for the Team and ASPIRE. So please can you help me reach my target anything you can afford will be great. Please give generously.
The individual affected will lose muscle and sensory control and the vast majority become full time wheelchair users for the rest of their lives. Historically, the majority of spinal cord injuries have been sustained by those aged 15 to 40, with men outnumbering women, although increasingly it is affecting more older people too.
Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work places and in leisure time..
