WE DID IT!
Well done guys completed under 24 hours, it nearly did us in but we got there. Thanks to all the walkers and the drivers for making this event possible, a sterling effort by all involved! Thanks to Kevin Procter and Busby Stoop garage for lending us the vehcles for the two days.
Also a great big thank you to the ladies for raising the money in CO-OP doing the bag packing, which raised nearly £500, which we used to pay for the fuel for the challenge, the balance is being counted and will be added to the final pot .
There is still a lot of money that has been pledge that is not shown on here and we will get it on the website as soon as it all comes in.
A big big thankyou to everyone,
Peter, Nick, Peter, Hazim, Peter, Will, Julian, Alan, Steve, Jim and Graham.
National Three Peaks Walk 18th -19th June 2011
Hello all. Well this is the part where I ask you to dig deep in to your pockets and give generously to our chosen charity - Epilepsy Research UK.
Last year I did a charity walk 'The Yorkshire Three Peaks' and set myself a goal to do the 'National Three Peaks' this year.
Our beautiful daughter Hannah has, an as yet, undiagnosed problem which could be Epilepsy. Whilst we await for a full diagnoses we are very much committed to this charity along with some very dear friends who have friends, relations and loved ones who suffer from this condition.
When I announced to my neighbours, friends and work colleagues that I wanted to do this challenge and which charity we would be supporting the response was amazing.
7 of us will be undertaking the challenge along with our support drivers - who will be invaluable to make the event a success. For those of you that dont know what the 'National Three Peaks' challenge is I will give you a quick overview.
A big thanks to Nick, Alan, Hazim, Pete, Julian and Will for walking and Graham and Jim for volounteering to drive.
The clock starts when we start to walk up the 4000' tall Ben Nevis mountain in scotland, once at the top we turn tail and head back down to the car. We then drive to Scafell Pike in the Lake District where we (you guessed it) we walk up the mountain and back down again. Back in the car and across to Snowdon in Wales, where for the last time we climb a mountain and then head back down again to return to the car. We have to do all this within 24 hours (including the driving!).It is possible and many people have done it.
The most difficult bit for us is that we are all getting on a bit and are not that fit! Although the training walks we are doing every couple of weeks are helping us all get a lot fitter and are great fun aswell.
We will be undertaking our challenge on 18th / 19th June 2011 (nearest the longest day so we are not walking in the dark too much).
Please please please support our efforts, we are all putting in a lot of personal time and effort to make this event a success. Please pass the link to everyone you know or work with because, as that advert says - every little helps!
Cheers all and I look forward to seeing the totaliser go up and up.
Peter
