Story
Hello everyone
As some of you know I have signed up to compete in another
sprint triathlon on the 23rd April in a bid to keep in shape, stay
healthy and to challenge myself.
Lisa has bravely signed up to compete in the same event as
part of a relay team with friends. Lisa swimming (400m), Helen cycling (20k) and Vicki running (5k).
Now what you won’t all know is that on the 23rd April it will be 12 months to the day since Lisa was rushed into hospital with what
was diagnosed as Septicaemia plus other complications following a perforated bowel.
This was as a direct result of Crohn’s Disease.
She spent 6 weeks in hospital and though she has spent many
weeks in hospital over the years, undergone numerous surgeries and
complications, I genuinely didn’t think she would be coming home at some points.
So to build herself back up to a fitness level that’s ‘good for her’, considering the fatigue and pain that’s associated with Crohn’s
(whilst also finishing a Master’s degree in Chemistry!) is an amazing proof of her strength of character.
So we’ll do the hard work, but if you could show your
support with us it would mean a lot.
We have set up a just giving page which the donations will
go to GYBO (https://getyourbellyout.org.uk/), a group that is set up by people with Crohn’s and colitis to raise awareness of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis alongside raising funds for Crohn’s and
Colitis UK to help others affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Thank you
Pete and Lisa
