Story
This is the first time in 46 years that I have publicly spoken about the death of my father Major Peter Willis, company commander of The Green Howards Regiment - killed in Northern Ireland during an IRA ceasefire in 1975.
He was due to have returned home to his family but was reported to have opted to stay with his young and inexperienced soldiers. The South Armagh border was treacherously dangerous and they needed his guidance and support.
Roll on 42 years when I met Greg Mangham, Founder of Only A Pavement Away for the first time. Absolutely no hesitation in volunteering on my part, to help Greg's crusade to find jobs in hospitality for those armed forces and ex-offenders living on the street.
I have decided to raise funds for this wonderful charity and give up Pete's favourite creature comforts for the next 28 days.
In short, I aim to shed 10lbs in the next 28 days and ask for you ro sponsor me ££'s for every lb I lose. Farewell to Burgers, Pasta, Chips, San Miguel, Curry, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pizzas for the month of October. For every single pound below 10lbs I do not shed, I will make up the difference personally.
Please remember you can always donate £2, £3 or even £5 per lb in the knowledge that your pledge is going to a fantastic cause and one that is very close to my heart.
Thanking you for your generosity,
Pete
