Swansea Soldier's Toughest Battle.

Running in the Marathon des Sables 2013 (MdS 13)

 

This is a marathon, or rather a collection of marathons like no other, a race like no other. This is the event that started and defined 'Ultras”' A totally unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The MdS is, like the runners who tackle it, special and idiosyncratic.

It is quite simply the toughest footrace on earth. A race for madmen, lunatics, nutters, headcases, masochists, not to mention sadomasochists (I mean putting your friends and family through that?) But an event race you’ll never forget, where you’ll make lifelong friends and an experience you’ll talk about for the rest of your life.

My personal aim is to finish in the top 50 British runners and in the top 100 overall and to also raise at least £3,000 for charity.

This event can make a difference, with kind donations and the effort put in by me in the sand and blistering heat, hopefully someone’s life will be made a little better.
