“THE PHOENIX PROJECT” – Please help Playbox Theatre to survive this crisis, so that future generations of young people can find their voice, their skill and their courage within a unique artistic environment, supported by Friends Of Playbox”
Playbox means so much to so many young people. Whether they do workshops in voice, circus, musical theatre, film, theatre, young Shakespeare, writers’ groups, technical skills or perform in their productions ... or are preparing for a professional life in the arts, Playbox provides a unique creative community to nurture young talent. Its culture and building also provide an immensely positive hub central to their social world. It would be heart breaking for Playbox to not survive the coronavirus pandemic.
To help raise essential funds for Playbox at this very challenging time a group of young people have decided to attempt a 12 hour Performathon on 2nd August 2020. This is no mean feat! They will put together a very long programme of work including songs, poetry, readings of favourite books or plays, jokes, dancing, improv, dance and more. Each performer will be responsible for putting together at least an hour’s worth of solo work and presenting it in whatever way they wish, and together, in relay, they will attempt to keep the performance going from 10am to 10pm - NON-STOP - with pop-in special guest appearances involving everyone at set points in the day.
The Performathon will take place in a dedicated Zoom room with an invited audience and snippets will be edited together afterwards for sharing.
Please help Abbey, Daisy, Esme, Ethan, Eve, Lucy, Lyla, Taya, Toby and Tom raise essential crisis funds for Playbox to keep this wonderful company alive!
Thank you so much for your support!
