The Young Farmers are trying to raise money for
Mercy Ships their nominated charity for 2010 and SAYFC by completing a
Cycle Challenge. The Challenge was actually my idea but looking back
at it now I possibly did not think things through! I never really
thought they would expect me to do it as well!
For those of
you that know me well the words - athlete, healthy or active are not
really words you would use to describe me. Possibly a cake eating,
princess who loves her sleep is a better description so the prospect of
having to cycle 145 miles is not filling me with joy! Neither is the
hostel accomodation we're staying in, I don't think there will be spa
facilities.
I did buy my bike back in March but training has
been slow until this week. With only five weeks until the event I have
vowed need to cycle most days and have cycled three of the past four
days. My bike even has some mud on it now! If only you could watch
emmerdale whilst cycling it would be so much easier. I also have a
very nice range in cycling clothes and accessories - well I want to
look good as I'm being revived by the paramedics on the side of the
A9.
I plan to get up at least an hour before everyone
else on Saturday morning so I can go home before we reach the finish
line, shower and change and make a glamerous finish! We'd
love to see anyone who free on Saturday 14 August when we reach the
finish line at Kinross Show hopefully around lunch time.
So
our trip starts on Thursday 12 August fininshing as mentioned on
Saturday 14 August at Kinross Show. In total we have 50 YF members
taking part which is amazing. Its for great causes both Mercy Ships
and SAYFC (which has to be the best Youth Organisation in the world!!).
Thanks for taking the time to read this and morer importantly if you do decide to donate anything it is very much appreciated!
