Story
On the 25th of August, Steve Harrington, our technical services manager, will be leading a team of eight staff members on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
Using his experience as a park ranger Steve will guide the team as they tackle the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernsidre and Ingleborough along the 24 mile route which will see them ascend some 5200ft. The team hopes to achieve this feat in less than twelve hours.
We will be raising money for the Warrington Disability Partnership in aid of their 25 year legacy appeal. The Partnership support disabled people and people living with long term health conditions through the development and provision of mobility and independent living services.
By the end of their anniversary year they plan to have generated a legacy fund of over £150,000 that will provide funding to employ at least five young disabled people each year.
The fund will be used to contribute up to £10,000 towards the cost of each of their salaries for a maximum of two years. It will act as an extension to a typical apprenticeship scheme and it will be open to young disabled people up to the age of 30.
During their two years of support each young disabled person will receive ongoing training and work placement opportunities aimed at personal development.
