Story
We will be walking 260 miles following the Pennine Way Trail. Starting in Edale & finishing in Kirk Yetholm in Scotland. (Crossing: Dark Peak, Southern Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines, Tyne Gap, Border Moors & Forests & The Cheviots).
To give you some idea of how challenging this is...... it's the equivalent of almost 10 marathons, but it's over some of the highest, remotest terrain in England! During the journey we have an accumulative ascent of 12,188m. (Everest is 8,488m). There are a total of 12 mountains en-route.
The walk takes approx 21 days to complete - but as we both work full time we have to complete the walk during weekends & Bank Holidays. Our start date is 2nd April 2011 & we hope to have completed by June 2011 (Blisters permitting).
This is a personal challenge for us - but we want to use the opportunity to raise funds for Willow Wood Hospice who cared for our cousin Paul Jones during the last few weeks of his life.
Willow Wood depend on donations to continue the excellent palliative care they provide. So please dig deep and donate now.
