Story
Thanks for clicking through on my link. You are up there with the really beautiful people, like Julie Andews and John Pertwee, the best ever Doctor Who. I hope that you can make a donation.
I feel so strongly about the work of our hospice. Those of you who know me, or who sponsored me in the past, will know how much my family struggled when my dad was ill. He was passed from pillar to post and in his final days found himself evicted from a hospital that had promised him sanctuary until his death. This was because his demise was taking too long and as he was no longer being treated, he had become an encumbrance to the system. Had he had the kind of service that we provide he could have died at home, surrounded by the people, sights and sounds that had been part of his life.
So I will attempt this event. I will be one of 5 people in the UK doing this in 2012 and I have no idea how it will play out. However, if I can display an ounce of the bravery of our nurses and our patients I will have a chance. As I said before, if it gets too much for me, I can stop. Our patients don't have that choice.
Oh, if you do sponsor me you will bring me closer to raising £20,000 for the charity (£18K so far, thanks to your wonderful genorosity).
Thanks so much for reading this and getting this far. Like I said - you're a marvellous person.
