For those of you who have had the misfortune of knowing me for a long period of time, you'll know I have never been a small guy! I've had my tries at crash diets and fads but of course nothing worked or if it did then the weight just came back with a vengeance!

So here it is, all the life changes! Eating right, going to the gym etc... and the end goal - to lose 140 lbs / 10 Stone or 63.5 Kg (depending where you are in the world) by the end of the year! Not an easy task!!

My starting weight was 398 lbs / 28.4 stone / 180.5 Kg!

My Mom passed away in 2011 and my Uncle Gary passed away at an early age unexpectedly in 2012 and these were both sobering reminders that life is short and we all need to make the most of what we have! That coupled with a friend who took a chance on me that led to an incredible opportunity and the fact that after more than 20 years together, I am still in love with my wife and want at least 40 more years together, is what's driving this life change!

Help for Heroes has always been a charity close to my heart; as it was for my Uncle Gary! We all have a chance to enjoy our lives and freedoms because of the risks that men and women on the frontline take for us everyday and for those who are unlucky and need help when they come home; this charity meets that need!

Help for Heroes provides direct, practical support to wounded, injured and sick Service personnel, veterans, and their families. This is provided through grants to individuals and other Service charities, capital build projects and support for life at our four Recovery Centres across the UK.
