Story
I am Paul Slavin. My sister is Laura Slavin. We're from Denstone in Staffordshire. Thanks for visiting our page.
In June our Dad Johnny Slavin was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer in his throat. He had 2 operations to remove 90% of the tumour and has just finished 7 weeks of Chemo & Radiotherapy, which has hopefully destroyed the the other 10%. We should find out if it has been successful in late November.
The attention and level of treatment our Dad received from the University Hospital North Staffordshire has been second to none. Identifying his rare strain of cancer was pretty complicated and we are so grateful to everyone who has helped him along this last 3 months.
Laura & I are running 2 Half Marathons to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research. The Dublin Half Marathon on Saturday 15th September & the Henley Half Marathon on Sunday 14th October. It is so important that anyone else who goes through this can get the best treatment possible, and that the amazing work being done with Cancer can continue.
I also want to mention some people very dear to us. Alex Slavin, our beautiful cousin who beat Blood Cancer last year and has recently made a full recovery. Our friend Anne Marie Griffin, who has sadly lost her Dad Michael & her Mum Anne to cancer in the last 2 years. And lastly two men I loved & admired very much, who passed away in March having lost short battles with aggressive cancer - Dave Charnley & Alan McInerney. We will be running with them all in our hearts, for Alex who we are so proud of and of course, our precious Dad.
If you are donating, then sincerely Thank You.
Much Love. Paul & Laura
