Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My wife Susan and I will be running the London Marathon on 23 April 2017. For Susan, this will be her first ever Marathon.
We are doing this in memory of my wonderful courageous mum, Deirdre Redfearn, who lost her brave fight against Lung Cancer on 9th October 2016, aged just 67, surrounded by her family in The Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract.
Words cannot begin to convey the gratitude me and my family have for all the wonderful staff, for the care and compassion they showed for my mum in her final days. This compassion stretched to our family who were by her bedside throughout.
It meant so much to us as a family to be able to be by her side, and be with one another at this very difficult time. The hospice allowed us to do this in comfort and privacy.
My mother spent her final days pain free and with dignity, something we will forever be thankful for.
It is an absolute honour and privilege to be able to run on behalf of The Prince of Wales Hospice in memory of my mum. They rely heavily on donations and fund raising to be able to operate.
It gives us great comfort to know that future families, going through similar difficulties as we did, will be able to benefit from their kindness and care.
So please dig deep and give generously to this wonderful cause.
So Mum, this one's for you, we both hope to do you proud
