Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. Once i found out that a colleague of mine, Jez Hyland was involved in organising this event to raise funds in memory of one of his best friends, I had to get involved. My own father Thomas Padden died of a brain tumor 30 years ago when I was just 12 and now is my time to give something back, by supporting this event.

In June 2016 our lives changed forever when Dave was diagnosed with a Grade 4 brain tumour.

Dave had two options in this, mentally and emotionally: to give up or fight like hell! You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. Being the brave character he was, Dave underwent major surgery in July at Queens Square, London to remove as much of the brain tumour as possible, allowing us to spend the summer making memories with our special man. The weeks that followed his surgery were not only filled with tears, but laughter too... he made sure of that.

Sadly on 8th November Dave passed away... We don't look at it as him losing the battle with this terrible disease... as every day that Dave was still with us was another battle won. But now it was his time to rest.

Dave was an inspiration, an astute businessman who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a larger than life character whose infectious personality always shone through, a true gentleman to the very end. In his 51 years he had an incredible life... a loving wife Karen and two beautiful children Chris & Jen, whom he adored.

Most would agree, Dave was the 'go to' man - the problem solver - always on the end of the phone when the going got tough.
Well now its our turn to give something back...

On Saturday 10th June 2017 Dave's friends and family will be undergoing a cycle challenge to raise much needed funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.

The aim is to challenge ourselves... each cycling from 20 to 300 miles in a 24 hour period.

We will all be wearing red (mainly lycra!!!) to support the charity, as we cycle the route around places of interest to Dave.

We'd love your support in this! Here's how you can get involved:

Come along and support us on the day! We will be setting off from the Black Bull, Kirton at 10AM on Saturday 10th June 2017; and people will be returning back to the pub as they finish their rides throughout the next 24 hours. Come and see us set off, and return! When the last riders come in at 10AM on Sunday, we'll welcome them back with a BBQ.

Donate! If you'd like to donate to the event, please hit Donate at the bottom of the page.

Join us! If you'd like to ride, please contact Antony at the black Bull on 01205 722530.
