Story

Hiya,

Many of you will be startled to find out that I will be running the Brighton marathon on Sunday 18th April 2010. To say my training has been intense would be an over statement. Opting to follow the advise of a guru I have chosen to run and stretch very little in preparation for what I think may be a mammoth task now. Consequently I am in deep need of a sports massage, a motorised vehicle and a mental carrot (read kebab dangling from a stick), if I am to complete this thing. Needless to say I like the idea of making this harder for myself.

To make all this worthwhile I have decided to raise money for Special Olympics (SOGB) Brighton and Hove – Charity No 800329

My targets £500 but I'll take £1000 so give generously.

Special Olympics Brighton and Hoves Mission is

To provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with learning disabilities giving them the continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of skills, gifts and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

For people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics is often the only place where they have an opportunity to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves. Special Olympics sports provide a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy.
