Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Nearly 3 years ago my Dad was diagnosed with Prostate cancer, he had treatment in hospital and chemotherapy to treat the cancer. The cancer spread from his prostate to his bone and into his blood. Earlier in the year tests were conducted and the cancer had spread to his liver. He had another round of chemotherapy this time half way through he had to stop as it was causing him to be unwell. During this break he had a scan and the result wasn't good. The treatment hadn't touched the cancer and as a result there was nothing more the doctors could do.
This is where the hospice got involved, since leaving hospital the hospice were contacted and their services were offered to my dad. My dad initially saw the hospice as a last resort and initially refused their help. His health took a turn for the worse and his mobility around the house was greatly reduced. The hospice at home team came to assess my dad and provided emotional support visits and extended services along with night sits.
Unfortunately my dad passed away early October and he didn't get chance to go and see the services at the hospice. He really wanted to go and spend the day there. The staff at the hospice at home who looked after my dad were superb and for the hospice and the hospice at home service to continue they rely mostly on donations and fund raising.
I have been given the opportunity to run the London Marathon to raise money for the hospice. I have pledged to raise £2000 in total and this will go towards helping the hospice provide care and much needed support to patients and their families.
