Story
I am one of 10 Bradford Businessmen undertaking the National 3 Peaks challenge to raise money for Bradford children's charity One in a Million, which Rex Procter & Partners has made one of their chosen charities of the year (see www.oneinamillion.org.uk).
Our aim is to raise £10,000 which will go to support the One in a Million Free School opening in Bradford this September
Many of you will know that I am passionate about our enhancing the education of our young people and preparing them for the world of work following on from the academic life offered by school and college.
In my role as Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of the Education 4 Enterprise Board in Bradford and a Board member of the Employment and Skills board, there has never been a more critical time for business to step forward and to help our young people find decent work to live decent lives.
Delivering home grown talent to the business community remains one of our core objectives but so does raising much needed funds for worthy causes.
One in a Million provides weekly sports, arts, education & enterprise programmes to children & young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Bradford. Helping break through barriers of deprivation and inequality in order to achieve their full potential, many of whom live in the top 1% most deprived area in the UK.
There are over 35,000 children & young people who live below the poverty line in Bradford and the money raised will go towards current and new projects that will help make a lasting difference to their lives.
The charity is having a positive and lasting effect amongst 770 young people per week in the local community. I would like to help them continue their great work by raising funds for the charity.
Any money you donate goes directly to the charity so please dig deep and donate now. Thank you for your support. Paul
