Story
I am undertaking this challenge in memory of my Nan who was a patient at St Joseph's.
St Joseph's Hospice in Thornton provides end of life and long term care to over 200 patients in a peaceful woodland setting.
I have decided to row a marathon as I have been rowing for a number of years and have many fond memories of my Nan coming to watch my races.
I am so grateful for the care that the amazing staff at St Joseph's gave to my Nan and the support they gave to our family during her time there. They treated my Nan with such dignity and respect and went above and beyond what was expected of them. It was clear to me that they all truly care for the people they look after. I was also struck by how welcoming and friendly all of the staff were, which made the hospice have a genuine community feel.
I will always be extremely grateful to them and for this reason I have decided to give something back.
I hope the money raised will allow St Joseph's to continue the amazing care they provide which brings comfort to patients and their families during difficult times. As a charity, the hospice is dependent on donations in order to do this.
Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated.
