Story
In October this year I'm trekking to Everest Base Camp in support of my local Hospice, Saint Michael's.
I'll be joining a team of ten other fantastic fundraisers striving to acheive huge results to support patient care provision.
Saint Michael's are reliant on the support and funds raised by their local communities and it is my pleasure, as one of the team at Saint Michael's, to be joining this group and help them to succeed.
Our hospice, Saint Michael's, serves a popualation of roughly 160,000 throughout Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Wetherby and many surrounding areas which makes up approximately 500 square miles. The Hospice has been providing care at no cost to its patients in this area for 26 years and even today receives less than 20% of it's funding.
This year the hospice needs £3.8 million to support the 2000 local people who will need support when living with terminal illness or bereavement.
Saint Michael's has touched the lives of so many local people. In fact statistically we know that one in three people will be touched by the work of a hospice in their lifetime.
You can help me to make a huge difference for my local hospice by making whatever donation you feel able to here, every penny counts and will go directly toward supporting someone near you who is reliant on the support of Saint Michael's.
I will be trekking in extreme conditions, up to 120km in 12 days. It's not just the trek itself, this fantastic team have put in a great deal of preparation to make sure that we acheive our goal - reaching Everest Base Camp for those supported by Saint Michael's.
I will keep you up to date with my efforts and hopefully you will be inspired to help me reach this hugely important goal for what is such a massively important charity in our local area.
