I’ve been living and working in China for the past 7 years and when I finally decided to make the move back to England my initial thought was, what would be the good way to do it?  Somehow I managed to arrive at the conclusion that pedaling back would be best!

Of course doing this trip also offers me the chance to raise money for an extremely worthy cause and one that is very close to my heart.  My father has suffered from Parkinsons since 1994.  He and many others I’m sure act as inspiration to all of us.  The simple daily tasks that many of us take for granted are a continual daily struggle for sufferers of Parkinsons and make any discomfort I might feel during this trip seem somewhat trivial. I'm hoping that people will recognize what a great charity this is and how this disease not only has an effect on the sufferers but also on those incredible people caring for them.

My route will take me from the Eastern Chinese province of Fujian to the Northwestern province of Xinjiang, crossing the Gobi desert.  From there I’ll head into Kazakhstan, possibly Uzbekistan (depending on Visas), Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France before arriving back in the UK.

I will be setting out on March 1st 2012.  I've not set any target as to how much I think we can raise because I think the possibilities are endless.  I just urge you to dig as deep as possibly and give whatever you can to support this wonderful charity.
