Story
Dad had always been fit, being an ex rugby player for York and England we would not expect anything else. Dad started with dementia a few years ago, which changed him from the man we knew to the man he became.
In January dad took himself to bed and never got up again, he lay in that hospital bed looking lost, he stayed there for 22 weeks until he finally lost his battle for life, the dementia had finally taken every bit of him.
During our time caring for dad, we were assisted by many wonderful individuals, including carers, nurses, doctors and Marie Curie night sitters. This charity sent the most kind, caring and compassionate individuals to sit and make sure dad was ok at each of their nights. They certainly took some of our sleepless nights and stress away. There is no way that we would have managed to keep him at home, and to fulfil his every wish if they had not assisted.
We would like to offer a little thankyou from my father for their wonderful work, if we could give a little to Marie Curie, then they can assist another individual and their family in their hour of need.
