Story
Hi
Tracey and I have foolishly decided to run an ultra-marathon (that's 55km) on July 2nd in the Lake District. I'm therefore taking the opportunity to raise some money for the charity Carney's Community.
I'm chair of trustees at Carney's. I got involved because I was inspired by the work of George Turner and his team, and by the stories of the young people they help.
Carney's Community gets disadvantaged and excluded young people off the street and away from a life of crime and despair by giving them skills, discipline and self respect. Inspired by boxing legend Mick Carney, our work reduces offending, re-offending and anti-social behaviour, whilst improving social mobility, community cohesion, and quality of life.
If you can spare some money in support of this worthy charity I'd be very grateful. It will go directly to boxing sessions, mentoring, and support for some of the most disadvantaged kids in London. And it will give me some much needed motivation when I'm half way up a mountain in the rain, with many miles left to run!
Thanks
-Paul
