Story
Hello fellow members and all supporters of the Poppy Appeal and Royal British Legion.
My name is Paul "Spider" Brenton, I am a serving member of both the British Army (40 in March) and the Hardwick RBL Branch.
My RBL Ice Hockey Marathon Challenge is aimed at firstly raising awareness of the good work the Royal British Legion does throughout the year and secondly to raise as much money as I can for both the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal.
My Challenge is in three parts:
CHALLENGE PART - 1
I entered the Swindon 10 Km on Sun 18 Nov 12, dressed in Full Ice Hockey kit including stick, I completed the race in 55 Mins, I felt quite bad at the end, but the support from the Swindon crowd was outstanding.
CHALLENGE PART - 2
The Gloucester Marathon was CANCELLED due to the Weather, however I could not let anyone down and decided to run the course on my own. I had the fantastc support of my Wife (Tracey Brenton), 5 Year Old Daughter (Poppy Brenton), NicoleI Mayell from the Gloucestershire Community Fund raiser, her husband and Daughter. Also Bill and Carole Bratty and David Gargett from the Hardwich and Districk Branch. I completed my First Marathon in 5hrs and 15 mins dressed in Full Ice Hockey kit.
CHALLENGE PART - 3
I was originally entering the London Marathon but I am unable to attend that date. Therefore I have entered the Shakespere Marathon win Warickshire on 28 Apr 13, again in Full Ice Hockey kit but this time I am attempting to break the Guinness World Record "Fastest Marathon dressed in Full Ice Hockey kit (Male)".
The current record was broken in Oct 12 by a Canadian in 4 Hours and 8 minutes.
