On the 9th October this year I will be flying out to Ho Chi Minh City to embark upon a 12 day cycling challenge. This challenge starts at Vietnamese Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City, cycling through the rice paddies and waterways of the Mekong Delta into Cambodia, ending at the Royal Temples of Angkor. Each day will see us ride between 50-60 miles in temperatures around 30 degrees with about 80% humidity. Alternatively I could be swimming it, as it will be at the end of the monsoon season in Vietnam!!

I have been in training now since January, although riding in the sunshine has just started to happen for me!!

I am funding my own trip costs which means that 100% of the monies raised will go directly to my chosen charity - The Lymphoma Association.

Founded by patients in 1986, the Lymphoma Association is the only specialist UK charity that provides accurate medical information and support to lymphatic cancer patients, their families and friends at very often difficult and confusing times. Every year, nearly 11,000 new cases of lymphoma are identified in the UK alone, making it the 6th most common cancer diagnosed by clinicians, and the most common cancer affecting the 15-30 age group. The association is also the founder member of the Lymphatic Cancer Alliance, a UK based coalition of four charities, aswell as representing patient perspectives by providing evidence for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). They are also on the steering committee of the NHS Coalition for Cancer Information (CCI) and a founder member of the Lympoma Coalition - an international group of lymphoma patient support organisations.

The lymphoma association is close to me as my father was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer 2 years ago and the support both he and my family have received from the association during that time has been fantastic. Aswell as raising vital funds, I am also trying to raise awareness of these cancers and of the association. Prior to my fathers diagnosis I had very limited knowledge of these types of cancers and absolutely no knowledge about the association and its vital work
