Story
Dear Friends,
First and foremost Thank You! With your help I managed to raise over £1,523 for the British Heart Foundation. This sum went well beyond my initial £500 target so again a huge thank you for all your generosity and support.
Well! – I did it! I arrived into Brighton at the respectable hour of 5.45am Sunday morning. Having set off from Clapham Common at 12.15am along with several thousand other cyclists, the mood was vibrant and everyone was eager with anticipation. Participating cyclists ranged from those who wouldn’t look out of place at this year’s 100 Tour de France line up, through to DJ’s on bikes blasting out their tunes through to Mary Poppins lookalikes riding high on High-Nelly bikes and when gathering speed on the down hills could have easily morphed into ET heading home. Irrespective, each and everyone peddled their might as we left the south London suburbs behind us and headed out into the densely tree covered lanes of the English country side and into in the dead of a very warm night. The sight of thousands of riders peddling in unison and in line as far as the eye could see, recognisable only by their flashing rear bike lights meandering through the winding roads and lanes as dew and dawn lifted eerily over the South Downs is one of the many highlights. The low lights included Burgess Hill and Devils Dyke which will forever be etched in my brain and calf muscles!
Once again thank you all very much for your sponsorship and support. I have added some pictures to the “my gallery” section of my Just Giving Page which hopefully gives you some idea of The Start! The Middle! The Finish! And The End J
