On 4th December 2019 I received the devastating news that my best friend Niall West, had taken his life.
I immediately reached out to his family and they informed me that they were already intending to take on the challenge of a 24 hour walk in memory of Niall and to raise funds for a local charity called ‘Don’t lose hope’
I didn’t even have to think about it, despite being overweight and unfit this a challenge that I knew I had to attempt. One of my favourite memories of Niall was when he organised a surprise trip for myself and Jack and quite simply told us there would be a ‘bit of walking and camping’
Niall took us on a walk in the Peak District with the wrong map and what started out as a bit of a pub crawl in the country, become a great adventure! I will never get to have adventures with Niall again but hopefully I can complete this challenge and raise money for a worthy charity.
Don’t Lose Hope is a charity that offers a professional counselling services for all members of the local community and also provides a community cafe which offers access to support groups, workshops and advice and is run by volunteers.
