Story
Myself and Matt are raising money for Sharewear Clothing by embarking on a cycling challenge.
We have always been keen to complete a long distance ride across France and we have now chosen the mighty challenge of cycling from Paris to Carcassonne in eight days!
As part of our journey, we have decided to support Sharewear Clothing who are small charity providing clothes for those in need. Sharewear are a growing organisation and the smallest donation will have a huge impact on the work they do for the communities of Nottingham.
We have set a target of £1,000 and we hope you can help us meet it!
Read below to find out what Sharewear does!
A small charity doing big things, Sharewear works to alleviate clothing poverty on both a referral and outreach basis through the distribution of public donations of pre-loved clothing and bedding as well as retailers' pre- and post-consumer waste to those most in need in the UK from their centres in Nottinghamshire.
Aside from clothing around 26,000 people per year whilst simultaneously diverting over a tonne of clothing from landfill in the UK every week, Sharewear also proactively seeks to educate the nation about the huge hidden scandal that is clothing poverty by influencing government policy on the clothing industry, offering clothing retailers a sustainable and ethical waste solution and campaigning for the Right To Clothing to be considered a basic human right for every individual in the UK.
Sharewear is funded entirely through charitable donations and grants, and so every penny raised through fundraisers truly does make a huge and instant impact on their work. UK tax-payers are also encouraged to tick the box allowing Sharewear to claim Gift Aid on their donation, enabling them to claim an extra 25p on top of every £1 donated from the UK government and at no extra cost to the donor.
