Story
So why paddle the Thames on a Stand Up Paddle board?
It's a simple story... you never imagine it could happen to your family but one day our lives changed when Lara (aged 7) was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
That was 18 months ago.
She has been on a huge journey and we have watched with pride as she progresses through treatment to recovery.
Without doubt, the staff at Kamran's Ward at the Children's Hospital in Oxford have made this possible, plus the massive love and support from her sisters Jess and Alice and family and friends (you all know who you are!).
So plans were made to try to give something back for those who will have similar journeys. We hope that any monies raised will help in some small way. Jess did the Three Peaks Challenge to help raise money for a dedicated teenager room for cancer patients. We all ran in a Santa Fun run with family and friends from work, plus our dog Forrest who was dressed as a reindeer.
But I wanted to do something else.....
I was inspired by a video of three men paddling their SUP boards down the Thames from Lechlade to Southend. The only other person I know foolish enough to paddle board is my long time surfing buddy Ru Snow, who took no persuading at all to join me.
So we have 125 miles to go!
PS. We believe no one has ever SUP from Cricklade to Teddington before, we could be the first...
