It's already saved 2,000 stray and abandoned dogs. I want to help it save the next 1,000!

Us humans have an appalling track record when it comes to animal welfare. Millions of dogs are homeless through no fault of their own but County Durham-based Stray Aid works flat out to rescue and rehome as many as possible.

This year I was honoured to be named a patron of this wonderful charity. And the Great North Run 2011 is my small way of helping it continue for years to come.
