Back in 2017 on this site I said that the old knees were battered from running too many half marathons for charity so I was jumping on a bike with 35 colleagues to complete the Coast 2 Coast cycle ride for Very's charity, Claire House. Well it was such a grueller that its put me off cycling for life so for this year's fundraising I promised to run the 2021 Chester Half Marathon if I could reach a target of £500. Within hours of receiving my sponsorship tin rattling email two of Very's suppliers, Kuehne + Nagel and ONE Line both pledged £500 each just to force me do it!! So I got back on the road in January and ran 20 miles in 8 days and strained my Achilles doing too much too soon! Luckily the race organisers have put the race back to September so still plenty of time to get fit
