On Friday 4th October, staff from Ospreys in the Community and Ospreys Rugby will be sleeping out at the Liberty Stadium to raise money for a joint programme to combat Youth homelessness and raise awareness of Mental health within our community
Ospreys in the Community and Ospreys Rugby are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the first ever Swansea Byte Night, in collaboration with Action For Children and Philtronics, and we want you to join in and help us raise money for this fantastic cause.
With 1 in 4 homeless young people diagnosed with a mental health condition and 1 in 5 young people sleeping rough or self-harming, it’s vitally important to support these children to stay at home or get back into safe accommodation and every penny raised counts towards supporting this.
£20 could pay for 15 children to have breakfast at one of Action for Children’s breakfast clubs
£60 raised could help the charity to arrange supported lodgings with a caring family for a young person
£500 would keep an emergency drop-in centre for homeless young people open for a week.
Speaking ahead of the sleepout, Ospreys in the Community FOundation Manager,Tom Sloane said:
“As soon as we were approached by Simon Pritchard, who is MD of one of the Ospreys’ Premiumartners, Philtronics, and also a Board Member of Byte Night Wales, we were really keen to get involved with Action for Children and the sleepout. It’s avery worthy charity and the help that they give young people is absolutely incredible.
“Some of the storieswe heard of at our recent Byte Night Swansea launch were really touching and it’s spurred us all on to raise as much money as we can to help these young people and get as many people involved on the night.
“We’ll also be working alongside Action for Children throughout the season on a special project around youth homelessness and the money raised will go directly towards his project in our own local community.”
