Story

Lisa: Since my Mum passed away almost 7 years ago, I have wanted to do something, anything to be able to give something back to Loros after how amazing they were with my family. My Mum spent the last week of her life there & I wouldn't have wanted her to be anywhere else. I slept over twice and was offered food and drink every time Mum was even though I wasn't a patient. If my Mum would experience any sort of pain, a nurse would be there in a shot to ease it. The way they looked after her was with so much care and you could just tell that all of the nurses there genuinely did care. We thought my Mum was going to be in there over Christmas 2007 & despite me being 1 of her 4 children, they were going to put on Christmas dinner for all 5 of us; it was no problem at all for them! Unfortunately she passed away 3 days before Christmas on the 22nd December so we never made the dinner but the ongoing support that Loros gave to me and my family was, again, amazing. It was just so reassuring to see the care that is given to the patients at this hospice and I have close friends who've had family members in Loros and yet again - nothing but praise! When I found out it was 100% charity funded it has been a main goal of mine to really try to help out & this bike ride is the start of much more to come.

Charlotte: The charity is very dear to me, as they have provided care, love and support to members of my family and friends. The staff and volunteers of LOROS are the angels that walk amongst us... The bike ride that I hope to achieve from Leicester to Paris to raise funds, is my way of showing my heartfelt thanks for all that they have done, and continue to do.

Regardless of not having ridden a bike in over 10 years - we cannot wait for our On The Bike Tour where we will be cycling approx. 400 miles from Leicester to Paris for several reasons; one being the benefit for LOROS & finally giving something back. Another, to show support to the patients currently in LOROS & to give them reassurance that their families are going to be very well looked after. Finally, to show every single staff member that their work does not go unnoticed and that we are grateful for each and every one of them.

Hopefully #TeamParis can generate any amount of donations to go towards this phenomenal cause - every penny is appreciated!
