Story
Hello friends, family and fans. At the end of July the 3 of us will be cycling 100 miles and running a marathon back to back to raise money and awareness for Crohns and Colitis UK.
Why are we doing this?
This disease has been something that has been close to Toby’s family since 2008 when his twin brother Harry was diagnosed. Although Harry lives a very normal and successful life, this is something that he deals with daily and recently he has just undergone his second operation to help manage the disease.
Two years ago, Tom’s dad was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the ripe old age of 51; he is currently managing this awful condition with steroids and immune suppressants, which was made even more difficult with the pandemic. Tom’s girlfriend’s mother, Julie, has lived with Crohn’s disease for most of her life and is an advocate for how someone is able to manage the condition whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle, certainly higher fitness levels that Tom’s dad!!
Crohn’s is a type of inflammatory bowel disease that effects around 1 in 650 people in the UK. It causes symptoms such as severe pain, fatigue and iron deficiency and although drugs and sometimes surgery can give long periods of relief from these symptoms. There is still no known cure.
This is a page dedicated to our training and fundraising. We are aiming to raise £7000 to help Crohns and Colitus UK find a cure for this horrible disease. Please donate and support us as much as you can in both our Ride100Run26 challenge, as well as supporting Toby in the 2021 London Marathon. It will be appreciated very much by us, but also the wider community affected by Crohns.
Thank you.
Toby, Tom and Rog x
